Memorable Stone Ridge Moments

As Seniors closing the chapter on their final year at Stone Ridge we have decided to present some of our most memorable Stone Ridge moments.

Très Bien

The highly anticipated cult-like dance. As this was my first Tres Bien I was attending, I had no clue what to expect, but I had so much fun. From getting ready with my friends at the hotel to dancing on stage with Mrs. Karrels, this night is well deserving of its hype and excitement.

My Ankle Injury

I wish I could have explained the boot I wore for two weeks with a sports-related injury or from saving a small child, but instead it was from a TikTok dance. Now I understand the push for the ban. I am grateful every day that the lovely nurses and Mr. Johnson heard my screams and came to my rescue.

Spirit Week (and my self-declared spirit day)

I love spirit week, so of course for my senior year I had to push some boundaries. Luckily I was not in trouble for appropriating Elphaba from Wicked, but my face was dyed green for the 3 days following. I also observed April Fool’s Day by coming to school as a vampire. It’s a good thing our school is so welcoming to all sorts of people, including witches and vampires.

Locker Room Dance Parties

Unfortunately, some of these dance parties were the freshmen’s first introduction to me with my exuberant dance skills and DIY dance uniform costume. It has become a Congé tradition to meet in the locker room for a sweaty dance party following lunch.

Sushi Action Tuesday

This year, a group of seniors participated in our own little holiday, where we hosted each other for sushi nights the night before social action. These typically ended with slam poetry, interpretive dancing, and crying (out of gratitude).

Social Action

I feel so fortunate to have spent my past two years of Social Action Wednesdays at St. Bartholomew’s inclusion program. I was already well-versed in teaching as I spent my childhood teaching imaginary children, but I realized how much better it is when you have real students! I loved my time there so much that I am going back for an internship with Mrs. Herndon, the head of the inclusion program. For any students unsure of where to apply for Social Action, you can not go wrong with doing service here. The students are wonderful, and I feel so grateful to have seen so many of them grow and make huge strides in their learning. I will warn you, you should be prepared to have to guess students’ second cousins’ names and their parents’ birthdays.

JV Tennis

JV Tennis was my reintroduction to Stone Ridge after returning for my Junior year. I needed sports credits and signed up for tennis on a whim. As one of the only juniors (and worst players), I met so many underclassmen who I would later find out were in my math and Latin 2 classes. Ms. O’Leary did such a great job allowing us all to mesh and grow our spirit as a team, she was also a great tennis coach and I can assure you that I am significantly better than when I started (low bar).

Meeting My Ring Sister

Finally, my last memorable Stone Ridge moment is meeting junior, Lyla Anschutz. I met Lyla during summer tryouts for tennis, and we began to carpool, which eventually led to us becoming friends and now ring sisters! I am looking forward to her visits to Indiana, as well as spending my summer tanning by her pool.

Working at Our Lady of Mercy

Getting to do my Social Action site for the past 2 years has been such an amazing experience for me. I got to meet and work with some of the sweetest kids, some of whom have intellectual disabilities. It has been such a life-changing experience for me to learn from these kids and see them grow. They are such bright kids and have never failed to put a smile on my face, and it was great to see a different perspective of how kids learn and play with each other.

Getting to Play Soccer with Emma

I was so lucky to be able to play soccer with my sister these past two years. It was so fun getting to have her by my side for all the wins and losses, and it definitely brought us closer together as sisters.

Blue Team Winning the 2024 Field Day

For the first time in my high school career, the blue team won field day! It was such a hot day filled with smiles, sunscreen, and sweat. When the blue team was announced as the winning team, it was all worth it.

Our First Day of Senior Year

This day was so surreal. Looking back on it, I remember thinking this would be such a long year ahead. The seniors greeted underclassmen coming into school with screaming and posters, excited for our senior year, but now it is almost over. We also got to run onto the stage as a class and celebrate how far we have come.

Brunch after Feast Wishes

Both junior and senior year, our class went to brunch together after Feast Wishes. These brunches just depict how close our class has become and how joyful we are all when we come together.
