This Christmas season, did you make it on your teacher’s good side or bad side? Read below to see if you’ve been doing any of your teachers’ pet peeves.
You’ll be getting coal from these teachers if you:
- Dr Bulger: use Snapchat during class
- Mrs. McGrail: leave trash in her room
- Mr. Sweeney: there’s absolutely nothing, no one’s getting coal from him!
- Magister Rook: don’t buy or bring books to class, and use random search results instead of class resources, misidentify a case in AP Latin, you learned this freshman year
- Mr. Mullan: pack up early before class is over
- Dr. Cohen: talk during class and distract your classmates
- Ms. Lampadarios: nothing specific, you’re safe for now!
- Mr. Martin: open your laptop uninvited and chat with your neighbor when it’s not discussion time
- Mrs. Blakeslee: don’t clean up after yourself and forget common courtesies like holding the door or saying thank you when someone holds the door for you
- Dr. Ludwig: talk while she’s talking, hide your phone badly, and don’t show up for scheduled meetings
- Ms. Beachler: fail to push in your chair at the end of class, groom in class, chew gum anywhere, and fail to respond to a greeting
- Mrs. Lynch: ask to go to the bathroom right at the start of class
- Mr. Woodard: leave for “water foraging” or “bathroom-going” right at the beginning of class
- Ms. Brandon: cluster together with others around corners making it hard to walk through the halls
- Ms. Heetderks: say “I’m sorry” when you have no need to apologize, there’s no need to apologize for things that are not your fault!
- Mrs. Russell: don’t read directions, leave questions blank on an assessment, blurt a question before checking directions, resources, and notes
- Ms. Wilson: scream into the microphone, this is never a good choice!
- Ms. Khaze: focus only on grades, don’t think through the problem, make careless mistakes, don’t follow directions, violate academic integrity, talk over the teacher, passively disengage, and use technology as a distraction
These teachers have you on their nice list if you:
- Dr Bulger: laugh at her jokes
- Mrs. McGrail: don’t have to do anything, all students are on her good side!
- Mr. Sweeney: are your authentic self
- Magister Rook: check the course modules in Canvas and follow instructions/guidelines
- Mr. Mullan: do your homework
- Dr. Cohen: pay attention and participate in class
- Ms. Lampadarios: ask for help and say “Hi” even when she doesn’t teach you anymore
- Mr. Martin: do your work, volunteer in class, ask for help, and listen respectfully to your classmates
- Mrs. Blakeslee: are considerate, she loves students’ energy, creativity, and laughter
- Dr. Ludwig: smile, recognize her superior style, laugh at her jokes, and explain current slang to her
- Ms. Beachler: push your chair in at the end of class, don’t groom in class, don’t chew gum anywhere, and respond to a greeting with eye contact and politeness
- Mrs. Lynch: ask really great questions, give a stellar response to a question, or correctly guess the mystery person in her mid-class break of 20 questions. Not only will you make it on her nice list you will also earn a sticker for any of these!
- Mr. Woodard: have a relaxed, friendly connection with teachers and say thank you at the end of class
- Ms. Brandon: say “Hi” to her in the hallways, ask questions in class even if you think it’s not a good question, and encourage/lift up other students
- Ms. Heetderks: help someone else without being asked!
- Mrs. Russell: say “Hello” outside of class, spell her last name correctly, think critically, ask good questions, seek help, share about yourself with her/the class, and make her laugh!
- Ms. Wilson: on your “BREATH”, have done your homework, know your character’s active intention in every single line, raise your line endings, and understand that we tell stories to create empathy.
- Mrs. Khaze: show genuine effort, ask thoughtful questions, try problems before asking for help, come to class prepared, are engaged, take responsibility for your learning, help your classmates, and approach learning with enthusiasm and care!
