When the weather gets warmer and the year is nearing an end at Stone Ridge, there is always so much anticipation for the beloved tradition of Ring Day! Ring Day, amongst the many other SR traditions, holds a special place in many Gators’ hearts, especially alumni, who still carry their class ring with them. Every year, on a late April Saturday, juniors receive their class rings, given to them by a senior of their choosing. The ceremony is held outside of Hamilton House (unless it is raining- shoutout class of 2026) and the ring is engraved with the Stone Ridge symbol, your initials/name, and your class year. Amongst the many memorable aspects of this spring morning, the most special part is the strong connection between the two girls as the ring is being placed on the junior’s finger.
In the months leading up to ring day, it is a long-standing tradition that the juniors “propose” to their senior ring sis. Cheering, hugs, posters, and sweet treats given to the seniors often come from a junior who is hoping she will say yes to placing their ring on, and the excitement that radiates from each proposal, even if it is not your own, is infectious. Below are just a few of the many ring sister proposals that you can use for inspiration if you are a sophomore this year, or simply to enjoy if you were not around for them.

Birdie McKay and Chloe Cassidy’s proposal to Maddie Albina (Chloe’s ring sis) and Alessandra Chiaramonte (Birdie’s ring sis) at Winter Ball. The two performed a dance to “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé in the middle of WinBa and came out with signs!

Bray Donahue and Lily Levinson proposed to Allison Haag after her final basketball game of her SR career, not to mention a game that won them the ISL championship against Episcopal.

Together, Kate Raffo and Mary Mulcahy proposed to Logan May and Charlotte Conway following the beloved SR tradition, Feast Wishes. Mrs Diaz announced that there was one more song, when “Marry You” by Bruno Mars started playing.

Feast Wishes is a popular day for ring proposals, because minutes later at Feast Wishes, Georgia Mytinger proposed to Taylor Barch, her sign featuring photos of the two of them and Eloise Quinn (class of 2025), referencing the close connection among the three of them.

Here, Quinn O’Connor and Mae Burkhart proposed to me (Eileen) and Greta Lowell as we were walking into school. On campus walk, all of their friends had t-shirts that collectively said “ring sis?” as the two ran out from behind them with signs. Quinn and Mae were wearing shirts that said: “I heart Eileen/Greta”.

Finally, at prom, Laila Khonsari and Mae Burkhart proposed to core group president, Ciara Monteverde, by playing the University of Wisconsin’s (Ciara’s soon-to-be college) theme song “Jump Around” and wearing cheese hats.
