It is hard to believe that the school year is already coming to an end. From impressive sports wins to joking in class with friends and an unforgettable Olympics Congé, here are some of the students’ and teachers’ favorite memories from this incredible school year!
Social Action:
This year has been a great one for Social Action. Students from across grade levels especially loved bus rides to sites, getting to connect and talk with people they wouldn’t have otherwise had a chance to meet. Goal IV continues to be present through students’ love for serving our community alongside their friends and classmates. One freshman shouted out the site Bread for the City, and many students shared their specific favorite memories: one sophomore being given cupcakes at her site, one of the workers riding a unicycle at a junior’s site, and one sophomore getting breakfast with her carpool.
Sports:

Stone Ridge sports have undeniably dominated this past year, bringing about many memories that students will remember for years to come. Many students shared a love for the Varsity Volleyball Championships, feeling great pride and happiness at their incredible win; players and spectators alike felt the pure joy emanating from the court. Another fall sport with a great season was Varsity Field Hockey, with one sophomore’s favorite memory being Anna Slidell ‘27 scoring the game-winning goal and being lifted up at the ISL Championship game. Another shoutout was given to Lilly Gross ‘29 and Gwyneth Kingsley ‘29 for winning their match after a long battle against our rival, Visitation. In the winter season, many students’ favorite memory was winning the ISL Championship in the Varsity Swim Team, also sharing a love for the team and the sport in general. Even though the Spring Sports season is not yet over, one freshman stated playing Intramural Tennis with her friends as one of her favorite parts of this sports year.
Theater/Arts:
The arts have thrived this year at Stone Ridge across all departments, with our theater program getting many shoutouts from students. Actors shared love for both our fall production of Macbeth and our recent spring production of The Sound of Music, which both received much praise from participating students and audience members alike. Speaking from experience, the friendships, memories, and skills built during these productions are ones that students will never forget, with this year’s productions especially building unforgettable bonds and traditions. Our recent art festival was also a true testament to the talent within our student artists, with a wide variety of ceramics, paintings, and other art being set out on display.
In-Class:
At its core, Stone Ridge is a school known for the deep connections built between its students and teachers, with these connections developing through our day-to-day classes. Generally, students cherish the time they have to joke around and laugh with their friends in class. Students and teachers shouted out specific classes that they have loved from this year and built memories in; joking with friends in AP US History, Honors Global Perspectives in English Literature, group quizzes with AP Chemistry, and playing 20 questions in Algebra II (shoutout to Piper Benedetto ‘27 and Maeve McDonnell ‘29). In the Arts Department, one sophomore stated that a favorite memory of hers was watching it snow from the big windows in Ceramics class. Religion classes also fostered great memories this year, with a sophomore enjoying the competition between medieval houses in Catholic Traditions and History, and a freshman loving her Scripture video project.
Throughout the Seasons:

Each season at Stone Ridge offers a variety of events, activities, and opportunities to make new memories. In the fall, students remember Bonfire, an evening filled with food, games, and music. This winter, we experienced some of the best snow we have ever seen, with students remembering the beautiful snow across campus, as well as the snowball fights and sledding that students embarked on. While the spring took a while to arrive, that first nice day when everyone started sitting outside at lunch is a day that students cherish and look forward to each year. Students also love seeing the cherry blossoms on the way to school and tanning on the turf.
Congé:
Undeniably, one of the best highlights of each school year is Congé, with this year’s Olympics Congé being one of the best yet. Students across grade levels all found something different to love about this year’s Congé; both freshmen and sophomores shouted out the ice skating rink, with some freshmen also loving the dodgeball tournament and getting to hang out with friends. Many students also enjoyed playing different board games in Good Hall. One of the best parts of Congé is the amazing food and desserts we get; students loved the ice cream and eating donuts with teachers. Finally, one sophomore shouted out the creation and signing of each class’s flag, which were soon hung in the Academic Building.
